Improving the Usefulness of a Driving App in Huntington's Disease

Why is a driving app important in HD?

We want to investigate a new app which we hope will assist both patients and health professionals to better understand how someone’s driving is going. On-road driving assessments can be quite expensive, and so we are hoping to improve a specially designed iPad app that could save people from going for an expensive driving assessment before they need to.

How am I investigating driving in HD?

I am looking at ways to improve a specially designed iPad app so that it is accurate in determining driving ability for people with Huntington’s disease.

What will we learn from this research?

Understanding ways that the app can be improved will assist both patients and health professionals to accurately use the app to determine how someone’s driving is going and reduce the need for an on-road assessment.

Who is eligible?

• Men and women, 40 - 60 years old.
• People without a diagnosis of Huntington’s disease
• People without a neurological condition
• Have been driving within the last 2 years
• No history of a brain injury

What will you need to do?

• A 10-minute chat over the phone to make sure you are eligible to be involved in the study.
• Come into Monash University Clayton for a 1-hour session to fill in some questionnaires, complete the driving related app and do some thinking skills tests
